APCALCAB — Calculus AB
APCALCAB tutoring in Glen Abbey, Oakville, Ontario — small groups of no more than 6, twice a week, taught by one instructor. Ontario, AP, and IB.
What it covers
Limits and continuity, differentiation and its applications (related rates, optimization, curve sketching), and integration through the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, including basic differential equations and accumulation problems.
Where students get stuck
The conceptual jump from a rate of change to an accumulated total — the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus is where AB either clicks or doesn't. Related rates and optimization word problems are the other recurring wall.
How tutoring APCALCAB works
We start from where the student actually is, not where the syllabus says they should be: check what class is covering, teach the fundamental underneath the trouble, and work problems at the right level until it holds. Between sessions, students message me when they're stuck on homework or prepping for a test.
