MCV4U — Calculus and Vectors
MCV4U tutoring in Glen Abbey, Oakville, Ontario — small groups of no more than 6, twice a week, taught by one instructor. Ontario, AP, and IB.
What it covers
Rates of change and the derivative, curve sketching and optimization, then vectors and the geometry of lines and planes in three dimensions.
Where students get stuck
For most students it isn't the calculus idea that's hard — it's the algebra underneath it: factoring, rational expressions, and limits notation. Vectors feel like a separate subject until you see them doing the same work in a different form.
How tutoring MCV4U works
We start from where the student actually is, not where the syllabus says they should be: check what class is covering, teach the fundamental underneath the trouble, and work problems at the right level until it holds. Between sessions, students message me when they're stuck on homework or prepping for a test.
